Guaranty Trust Bank (*737#) betting deposits

How Nigerian bettors deposit and withdraw using GTBank: USSD, internet banking, and virtual account methods, tested and explained.

Depositing at a Nigerian sportsbook using GTBank

  1. Dial the USSD code
Open your phone dialler and call *737#. No data required. Works on 2G.
  2. Select Transfers
Choose option 3 or 4 depending on your current menu version. GTBank updates the menu periodically, so if the numbering changes, 'Transfers' is always within the first four options.
  3. Enter the sportsbook account number
The operator will show you a virtual account number in the cashier. This is a GTBank account number issued specifically for your transaction. Enter it exactly.
  4. Enter the amount in naira
Type the amount you want to deposit. NGN minimum varies by operator but is usually NGN 100-500 for the first deposit.
  5. Confirm with your PIN
Your 4-digit GTBank PIN, not your ATM PIN but your mobile banking PIN. The transaction processes instantly.
  6. Check balance on the sportsbook
Switch to the operator's app or site. Your balance should update within 5-10 seconds of confirmation.

Troubleshooting: common problems with GTBank

  • If *737# shows 'transaction not allowed', your GTBank account may have a temporary restriction on mobile transfer. Call 0700 482 3737 or use the GTBank mobile app instead.
  • If the virtual account number is rejected, it may have expired. Most operators generate new virtual accounts within 30 minutes. Refresh the cashier page to get a fresh one.
  • If your deposit does not reflect in 10 minutes, check your GTBank SMS for a debit confirmation. If you got a debit but no credit, send the SMS receipt to the operator's live chat with your account username.
  • For first-time USSD senders, GTBank may prompt you to set a transfer PIN during setup. This is a one-time process and takes about 90 seconds.

Withdrawal using GTBank

GTBank was the first Nigerian bank I ever used to deposit on a betting site, back in 2015 when the only option was USSD and bank transfer was a 30-minute exercise. The *737# experience has improved since then: it is instant most of the time, the fees are reasonable, and it works on every network. The one frustration is the daily NGN 100,000 USSD cap, which catches out bettors trying to fund a large account. If you are depositing above that limit, switch to GTBank internet banking for higher caps.
