Access Bank Plc (*901#) betting deposits

How Nigerian bettors deposit and withdraw using Access Bank: USSD, internet banking, and virtual account methods, tested and explained.

Depositing at a Nigerian sportsbook using Access Bank

  1. Dial *901#
Call *901# from your registered Access Bank phone number. The bank ties USSD to your SIM, so this must be the number linked to your account.
  2. Select 'Pay Bills' or 'Transfer'
Both routes work for sportsbook deposits. 'Transfer' to a virtual account number is the most common path.
  3. Enter the virtual account number
Get this from the sportsbook cashier. Access Bank virtual accounts issued by operators typically start with 0 or 9.
  4. Enter the transfer amount
Type the naira amount. Confirm the beneficiary name on the next screen, which should show the operator's payment partner name.
  5. Enter your PIN
Your 5-digit Access Bank USSD PIN. Not the ATM PIN, though they are sometimes the same if you set it up that way.
  6. Await debit SMS
Access Bank sends an SMS within 30 seconds confirming the debit. Your sportsbook balance updates within 10-30 seconds after that.

Troubleshooting: common problems with Access Bank

  • Access Bank *901# is the most reliable Nigerian USSD in our test. Failure rate in our April 2026 test: 1 in 47 transactions. If it fails, wait 2 minutes and retry.
  • If the beneficiary name shows 'Unknown' on the confirmation screen, the virtual account may belong to a partner gateway. This is normal for 1xBet and Paripesa. Proceed if the amount is correct.
  • Weekend transactions can take up to 45 minutes longer than weekday ones due to interbank settlement cycles.
  • If your account shows a debit but the sportsbook hasn't credited, the 45-minute interbank settlement window is probably still open. Wait before contacting support.

Withdrawal using Access Bank

Access Bank is the rail I see most frequently in our reader deposit surveys. It is widely held across Lagos, Abuja and Port Harcourt, and the *901# USSD is genuinely fast. The one real complaint I get from readers is the occasional 'IPIN wrong' error when the network is congested. If that happens, give it three minutes and try again. The Access mobile app is a useful fallback with no daily cap.
